The Virtual Reality Fine Art Program (VRFA) at Montefiore Medical Center, in partnership with FIT, presents the first original artwork in virtual reality for a hospital, by artist Tom Christopher, who was working with Montefiore. Partnering with FIT interns and the Media Laboratory in the Department of Fine Arts, Christopher has created a Bronx-specific VR experience for patients. From June to July 2017, the group traveled throughout the Bronx to sketch, record, photograph, and film nuances of everyday life that are unique to this borough. The students then worked with Christopher using Google’s Tilt Brush, a 3D-painting app in VR, to bring this artwork to life.
