FIT is advancing its investment in experiential learning through the launch of DTech Live, a series of interactive events in partnership with Bambuser, a streaming platform combining real-time shopping with livestreamed events. The inaugural program in the series, 7Collections Emerging MFA Fashion Design Virtual Showcase, held in April 2021, was a livestreamed fashion presentation featuring interactive elements such as a chat and made-to-order shopping from the Fashion Design MFA graduates’ debut collections. True to its name, this DTech Live event presented seven collections by FIT alumni from seven countries, all of whom earned MFAs in Fashion Design. The graduates created artistic videos of their collections and answered questions from Dr. Valerie Steele, director and chief curator of The Museum at FIT, and Cathleen Sheehan, acting chair of the MFA program. With this cutting-edge technology, the livestream connected the designers to consumers for an interactive fashion show, conversation, and shopping experience.
