The FIT-SBU Seed Funding Project was launched to encourage and support collaborative research between faculty of FIT and the Stony Brook University College of Engineering and Applied Sciences. Three teams, composed of faculty from both institutions, applied for seed grants to study advanced materials development for commercial applications. Teams were asked to focus on one of the following areas of textiles of the future:

  • Materials
  • Sustainability (as it pertains to the apparel, accessories, and textile industry)
  • Energy Harvesting (also in apparel, accessories, and textiles)

The teams competed for a total of $10,000 of funding.
