FIT’s sustainability efforts, ongoing for the past 15 years, continued April 13–16, 2021, with a fully virtual conference focused on sustainability and innovation in the fashion industry. The 15th Annual Sustainable Business and Design Conference: Changemakers in Action—held remotely due to COVID-19—focused on designers and entrepreneurs making a major impact in sustainability. Speakers and honorees included pioneering alumni, industry leaders, and students; the four honorees were FIT alumna Stacy Flynn, co-founder and CEO of Evrnu; Eileen Fisher, founder of Eileen Fisher; Abrima Erwiah, co-founder and president of Studio One Eighty Nine, and Dr. Mark Liu, a pioneer in zero-waste fashion design. The conference program spotlighted leadership in social justice, diversity, corporate responsibility, and innovation in the fashion industry.
