ChalkFIT is a project started in September 2013 by Daniel Shefelman, assistant professor of Illustration at FIT. The project calls on Illustration students and alumni to create original chalk murals each fall to decorate the exterior of the Pomerantz Center. In fall 2018, Shefelman partnered with James Pearce in FIT’s Emerging Technologies department to add an augmented reality (AR) component to the project, bringing each piece to life via a smartphone app.
